Northwest-Shoals Community College(NSCC) Take a decision to offer scholarships to the students. Have a look at the article, are you eligible for the scholarships or not?

College students who have used the time off from university possess the opportunity to start back on the right feet with a scholarship or grant from Northwest-Shoals Local community College.

Students who attended classes at NW-SCC prior to fall 2019 and have not already been enrolled since then can come back to school with their summer college tuition-free up to 12 credit hrs.

“We hope this will encourage those that had university aspirations before the outbreak to enrol in college, ” said Crystal Reed, NW-SCC assistant dean of student services.

“Those not getting federal government aid will be eligible for the tuition-free scholarship if they satisfy the eligibility requirements. ”

NW-SCC has offered students the chance at a tuition-free semester in the past, but NW-SCC public information officer Trent Randolph said they have never been offered by this magnitude.

“The outbreak forced a number of our students to focus their efforts on assisting their families or themselves, ” Randolph said. “In many cases, it pushed these to put their education off for the time being.

Hopefully, this scholarship or grant gives many a chance to continue their education and complete their degree or certificate they formerly started at the college. ”

Randolph said NW-SCC thought this would be a perfect time to offer the scholarship or grant because the quantity of COVID-19 instances is beginning to decline.

The scholarship or grant is also aimed at help boost presence at NW-SCC throughout the summer, which Randolph said typically views the lowest registration numbers from students.

To become eligible, students should have not already been signed up for NW-SCC since fall 2019; must have at least a 2.0-grade point average on all college coursework, and must have successfully completed 12 hours at NW-SCC.

The student must also be a U. S. citizen or permanent resident, complete the 2020-21 FAFSA and attend required mentor meetings.

The priority deadline to submit the application for the scholarship is May 15.
