Russia has agreed to vaccinate Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be able to buy vaccines from the country. However, they will not be able to meet the demand of Bangladesh. For this they have agreed to give a vaccine formula. As a result, the Russian vaccine Sputnik Five can be produced in the country. But the formula must be kept secret.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen briefed the media on Thursday (April 22nd).
“Bangladesh will not be able to show anyone the formula for vaccine production,” he said. The vaccine formula will be kept secret, it will not be disclosed to anyone, on the condition that we sign the agreement. ‘
China has also proposed building a repository of coronavirus vaccines in South Asian countries. Bangladesh has agreed to the proposal, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
With the sudden rise in corona infection in India, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, Serum, has warned that vaccine exports are unlikely in the next three months. And this is why the country’s vaccination activities are in jeopardy.
The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh has agreed to enroll in a new platform called ‘Emergency Vaccine Storage Facility for Cowid for South Asia’ to get coronavirus vaccine in case of emergency.
Apart from China and Bangladesh, the other four countries on this platform are Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. However, it is not an alliance, said Abdul Momen.
“China will give us the vaccine,” said AK Abdul Momen. “We have a relationship with China.” They will give this vaccine very soon. At the beginning, China will give six lakh doses of vaccine to Bangladesh as a gift, the foreign minister said.
He said a memorandum of understanding would be signed for this, the drafting of which has also been completed.
