Charles Geschke, co-founder of Adobe and developer of PDFs, dies at 81. Adobe Software officially announced on Friday (April 18) that he had died in California, USA.

Charles Gaskey founded Adobe in 1982. He also helped invent the Portable Document Format or PDF.

In a condolence message, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayan said he had revolutionized desktop publishing. The entire Adobe family mourned his death and the loss of the technology industry. He was the guide and hero of this world.

He added that Geschke and John Warnock are developing software that has changed everything. Which has played a revolutionary role in human communication. They have contributed to the development of software such as PDF, Acrobat, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Photoshop.

In 2009, Geschke and Warnock were awarded the National Technology Medal by US President Barack Obama.
