Eid in Palestine with bombs and corpses. Today is Thursday, May 13th. The holy Eid-ul-Fitr is also being celebrated in Palestine in line with some countries in the Middle East. But even on Eid al-Fitr, Israeli bombers continue to bomb the Gaza Strip in droves. Israeli warplanes began bombing as residents of the Gaza Strip were preparing to celebrate Eid on Thursday morning, local time.
Thus, the morning of Eid began in Palestine with the bombing.
Safwat al-Kahlut, a Palestinian, told Al Jazeera that Gaza had been awake since Wednesday night because of the bombing. The sound of explosions is heard from time to time, and the buildings are shaking.
A pregnant woman named Rima Telbani and her baby were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the morning of Eid al-Adha in the Tel Al-Hawa area of Gaza City. An elderly couple was killed when a bomb exploded at a residential building in the Sheikh Zayed area of Gaza.
A spokesman for al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, said in a statement on Thursday that “we have expanded our resistance across Israel,” al-Safa news agency reported. We will continue to fight to protect Palestine.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Local Health told Al Jazeera that the death toll in the ongoing bombings in Palestine had risen to at least six.
But according to Al Jazeera, at least 69 people have been killed, including at least 18 children and six women.
Incidentally, protests have been going on in Jerusalem for some time over the Israeli occupation. At least 90 Palestinians were injured in an attack by Israeli security forces on Sunday (May 9th) as Palestinians began protesting after prayers in al-Aqsa on the night of Laylat al-Qadr.
Israeli police have cordoned off the Al Aqsa Mosque and surrounding areas since the clashes. Hamas has warned security forces to withdraw from al-Aqsa within 24 hours.
But if Israel did not heed the threat, Hamas launched a rocket attack on various Israeli installations from Gaza on the evening of May 10. Since then, Israel has launched air strikes on Gaza.
