Israel’s policy against the Palestinian and Arab minorities amounts to racist and crimes against humanity.
Human rights watchdog Human Rights Watch (HRW) made the allegations in a report on Tuesday (April 26th), Reuters and Urbannews reported.
The 213-page report says it is not their intention to compare Israel with apartheid-era South Africa, but whether racism has taken place in the country’s policy under international law; has been evaluated.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry has rejected the report as false and unreasonable.
They allege that HRW has indulged in an anti-Israel agenda and has been encouraging Israel to boycott for many years.
However, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the assessment of the New York-based human rights organization.
A few weeks ago, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced an investigation into Israel’s war crimes in the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip.
The HRW report points to Israeli restrictions on the movement of Palestinians and the occupation of Palestinian-owned land for Jewish settlements.
The human rights group called Israel’s policy a crime of apartheid and torture.
