The top order batsmen of Punjab have learned a lesson by watching the Mumbai Indians batsmen suffer after going down to bat first. After watching and playing a lot, no one went to make a storm for no reason. The goal was not too big so there was no pressure to run per over. Mumbai scored 131 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Punjab Kings passed with 9 wickets and 14 balls in hand.

Punjab captain Lokesh Rahul (60 off 52 balls) and Chris Gayle (43 off 35 balls) batted brilliantly. The two have left the field unbeaten after winning the team. Mayank Agarwal, who was out, made 25 off 20 balls. Rahul’s innings was arranged with 3 sixes and 3 fours. Gayle hit 4 fours and 1 six.

Rahul's Punjab did not value Mumbai

It was clear during Mumbai’s innings that batting for the wicket at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai was not an easy task today. Mumbai did not have 2 wickets for just 26 runs in 8 overs. From there, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma put on 79 off 56 balls. But as the run per over was not cheap in T20, Mumbai went under pressure at the end. And to increase it, it loses its charm towards the end.

Rohit, who scored 63 off 52 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, played a captaincy innings. However, no one could accompany him except Yadav. Yadav made 33 off 27 balls. Mohammad Shami and Ravi Vishnu took two wickets each for Punjab. Both bowled 21 runs in 4 overs. Deepak Huda and Arshdeep Singh took one wicket each.

Rahul and Agarwal’s 53 off 45 balls laid the foundation for Punjab’s victory. Agarwal returned in the eighth over with a catch by Yadav off Rahul Chahar, but Punjab did not take any more wickets. Rahul-Gayle’s unbroken pair of 79 off 65 balls left the field after winning the match. Punjab captain Lokesh Rahul also got the match best trophy.
